UM, SO WE MET WITH THE APPLICANT BACK IN MAY AND THEY, UM, SHOWED US A CONCEPT PLAN THAT MET THE 43 REQUIRED PARKING SPACES.
UM, BUT THEN OF COURSE WE INFORMED THEM OF THE ROAD BOND.
UM, SO THIS IS AN APPROXIMATELY 18.5% REDUCTION FROM THEIR MINIMUM REQUIRED.

SO, UM, YOU KNOW, THERE'S LIKE A MAJOR, I WOULDN'T SAY POT, WELL YEAH, IT'S A POTHOLE, BUT IT'S A MAJOR POTHOLE THAT, OR DIVOT THAT, YOU KNOW, KEEPS PEOPLE FROM PARKING THERE IN, IN A COUPLE OF SPOTS.
SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT SINCE WE ARE DECREASING THE NUMBER OF MINIMUM SPOTS THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL 35 ARE AVAILABLE AND USABLE SPOTS.
YOU KNOW, AND THAT'S WHAT I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE ABOUT.
KEEPING THE CONDITION OF THE PARKING LOT.

NOW WE'VE, UM, CHANGED THAT TO WHERE IT COMES TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.
UM, I BELIEVE STAFF WOULD ULTIMATELY KIND OF TRY AND WORK WITH THE APPLICANT TO DETERMINE, YOU KNOW, WHAT WOULD BE A, UM, APPROPRIATE, UM, REQUEST BEFORE WE BROUGHT IT TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.
LIKE IF IT'S, YOU KNOW, AN HEB AND THEY'RE LIKE, I WANT 10 PARKING SPACES FOR THE ENTIRE HEB, WE'RE GONNA SAY THAT'S NOT GONNA WORK.
UM, BUT IT DOES GIVE US SOME MORE FLEXIBILITY, UM, TO BRING FORWARD REQUESTS LIKE THIS MOVING FORWARD IF IT'S, IF IT'S WARRANTED.
TO, TO BACK UP WHAT, UM, KAYLA'S TALKING ABOUT THE CODE AMENDMENTS THAT YOU APPROVED IN AUGUST ABSOLUTELY GIVES STAFF A LITTLE BIT OF INITIAL FLEXIBILITY AND THEN GIVES YOU A LOT MORE FLEXIBILITY TO CONSIDER, UM, CASES ON A, ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.
SO IT REALLY KIND OF TAKES OUT THE TRUE, UM, I MEAN A VARIANCES HAVE TO HAVE VERY SPECIFIC CRITERIA AND THIS GIVES THE PLANNING, ZONING COMMISSION A LOT MORE FLEXIBILITY TO LOOK AT, UM, THE SPECIFICS OF THE CASE AT HAND TO ALLOW ADDITIONAL, UH, WAIVERS OR ALLE, UH, FOR, FOR PARKING.
SO, UM, WE APPRECIATE YOU, UM, RECOMMENDING AND COUNSEL APPROVING THOSE CODE AMENDMENTS THAT REALLY GIVE, UM, SOME MORE FLEXIBILITY FOR THE CODE.
